Late Fees and Disconnection
All accounts not paid by 8:00 a.m. next day from the customer’s termination date will be considered delinquent.
A $40.00 late charge will be assessed on each account which is delinquent.
All delinquent accounts not paid in full within 10 days of the termination date will have the meter removed and be placed for collection with the Marshall County Court Clerk. Delinquent accounts can only be written off after the written consent of the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
A $25.00 service charge will be added to any returned check. The returned check and service charge must be paid for in cash in the exact amount within 5 calendar days of return of the check. If returned check is not paid within the allotted time, water service will be terminated and the check will be turned over to the Marshall County Chancery Clerk for prosecution. Upon receipt of the second returned check within 12 months the customer will be placed on a cash only basis. Check writing privilege will be reinstated upon 15 months service without going to cut-off.
Cut-Off Of Service For Non Payment
On first time cut-off the department will waiver the $40.00 service charge and department service man will mail a notice stating that customer has 5 calendar days to pay bill or service will be terminated. On second time cut-off status, water service will be terminated without notice. A $40.00 reconnection service charge will be paid before customer’s service will be re-instated. After 3:30 there will be an additional $40.00 fee for after hours.
Reinstallation of Water Service After Normal Working Hours
The Lewisburg Water and Wastewater Department has personnel on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to repair water main breaks and give service to our customers.
Frequently the Department receives requests from customers to reinstall delinquent service after
normal working hours. The Department is happy to provide this service to our customers until 8:00 P.M. at night when requested.
However, Department personnel will not reinstall service until all delinquent bills, service charges, late payment charges, and after hours charges have been paid in full. The on call personnel will not accept checks, but will accept cash in the exact amount of all charges.
